"A book of art -- the art of life, and the art of living it, wherever you may be."

This remarkable book is comprised of photographs of over fifty street people living their lives in and around Calgary. The pictures and words throughout the book try to shed some light on a somewhat elusive society of street dwellers. The photographer traveled around Calgary, going on bottle runs, out to bush camps, sitting on curbs, picking cigarette butts, sharing laughs and tears for two years.

"This journey was very enlightening for me; it reminded me that you should never assume anything, and never ever think there is nothing to gain from anything you do in life." - Author Joey Podlubny

About the Author - Joey Podlubny

Born August 24, 1978, Joey Podlubny was brought up in small towns across Alberta; his father an Alberta forest ranger, currently Director of the Foothills Model Forest in Alberta; his mother a nurse, homemaker and creative woodswoman. His interest in photography came by chance, as he filed through a college calendar. He picked up a camera for the first time while attending a photojournalist program. It soon enveloped everything he did, at first working for newspapers and then for magazines. He soon discovered the possibilities that lay ahead when you have a manual camera, a 50 mm lens and lots of film. He is inspired by photography's greats, hoping to keep the tradition of documentary photography alive. He believes that true photography comes from what you forget, not from what you already know. Always see the world brand new.

Podlubny currently resides in Calgary, Alberta with his wife, Gillian, and their daughter, Madeline.
