Get Involved

Get involved in our success

There can be no recovery from a life of poverty and despair on our streets without the care and support of our entire community. To find out how you can get involved in making this dream a reality, contact The Mustard Seed at (403) 269-1319.

The Mustard Seed has worked diligently to solicit feedback and advice from experts across North America. Here are some comments from three key US sources:

“I have reviewed with interest the Mustard Seed’s proposal for a high-rise affordable housing development in Calgary’s inner city… it appears to be an ambitious, but realistic approach to alleviating the challenges faced by a growing population of homeless individuals in your city.
It’s encouraging to see organizations like the Mustard Seed pursuing ambitious projects aimed at making a lasting difference in your community.”

Mr. Richard Harris, Executive Director, Central City Concern, Portland OR
(Central City Concern is a strategic partner with Portland’s Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness. To date, CCC owns and/or manages over 1,300 units of supportive low-income housing, mostly in Portland’s inner city.)

“The Mustard Seed building is a well-conceived project that fits its place and time and will be an important precedent in the history of North American affordable housing. More importantly though, it will provide a wonderful home for people in need.”

Mr. Amit Price Patel of David Baker + Partners, San Francisco
(Mr. Patel is a globally recognized authority in the field of affordable housing.)

“From the City’s perspective, even before the building was open (CCC’s 8NW8; 12 stories) we would have financed even more than the current 180 units, but the height restrictions on that particular site did not allow it. Now that the project has opened, we look forward to establishing more projects like this.”

Mr. Will White, Director, City of Portland Bureau of Housing and Community Development
