Going Home

Going HomeKeith was young, with a life that was spiraling out of control in drug and alcohol addictions. Now 13 years later, he has his sobriety and will be seeing his daughter for the first time in years.

Keith hadn’t seen his daughter since she was two years old. He says, “I was in the military and really immature. I was afraid of the responsibility I guess. But I would see pictures of her over the years and see myself in them.”

His daughter is 13 years old now and has been asking if she could meet her father. Through the New Brunswick community where Keith is from, his daughter was eventually able to send a letter to him. “She wrote a letter and it just melted my heart.”

Because of guests like Keith who are rebuilding their lives, as well as re-establishing relationships, The Mustard Seed has developed a “Get to Go Home” program which helps our guests reconnect with their families.

“I owe a lot to The Seed, even when I was in my addictions they always saw the potential in me. I am just so grateful in my heart and I just want to give back.”
“My family is really proud…My life has done a 180 degree turn that’s for sure. I know I’m never going to compromise my sobriety again.”
