Street Level - Fellowship

For nearly 25 years, The Mustard Seed has worked to foster meaningful, lifelong change in the lives of Calgary's homeless. Together with our community, we care for the most essential and urgent needs of the homeless with food, clothing and shelter, while also providing the tools, training and community needed to help our guests rebuild broken lives and ultimately, realize the dream of a better future.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Build positive, supportive and lasting relationships with our guests that will encourage and inspire them to make meaningful changes in their lives
• Build community by interacting with guests, volunteers and staff on the main floor during busing hours
• Help connect guests with appropriate programs, services and events
• Ensure appropriate boundaries are maintained between guests and volunteers
• Maintain the safety and security of all Mustard Seed volunteers, staff and guests
• Sign in and out correctly using the volunteer attendance tracking sheet

Qualifications

• Desire to serve Calgary's less fortunate
• Willingness to commit to a 3-month term
• Assertive, with appropriate boundaries
• Willing to attend Staff and Volunteer Training Parts 1 and 2
• The following certifications are considered an asset: NVCI, First Aid, Suicide Intervention, etc.

Hours

One four-hour shift (4 - 8:00 pm) per week

• You will be required to submit a CPS check and sign agreements regarding Boundaries, Confidentiality, Statement of Faith and Photo Release
