- Communicate with the staff regarding current information
- Take responsibility for running Street Level, including coordinating volunteers
- Connect guests with the appropriate programs and services
- Welcome volunteers as they arrive, ensure that they sign in and out
- Communicate new information to volunteers as neccessary
- Go over intake paperwork with new volunteers: CPS check, Boundaries, Confidentiality, Statement of Faith and Photo Release agreements
- Assess the volunteers' level of comfort, assign tasks accordingly
- Continually teach and develop volunteer skills, provide support and feedback to volunteers
- Help guide volunteers into the roles that best fit their interests and skills
- Build community between guests, volunteers and staff
- Ensure appropriate boundaries are maintained between guests and volunteers
- Maintain the safety and security of all Mustard Seed volunteers, staff and guests
- Crisis intervention as needed
- Debrief at the end of the volunteer shift
- Write a volunteer report summarizing the evening
- Attend a monthly volunteer team lead meeting

- Desire to serve Calgary's less fortunate
- Willingness to commit to a minimum 6-month term
- Assertive, with appropriate boundaries
- Three months experience as an Essential Services volunteer
- Have attended New Staff and Volunteer Training Parts 1 and 2
- Willing to continue Volunteer Leader Training: NVCI, First Aid, Suicide Intervention, etc.

- Training in boundaries, NVCI, First Aid
- Contribute to ending homelessness within our lifetimes

One 5-hour shift per week: 4:30-9:30 p.m. |
If the above qualifications are met, the essential services volunteer may meet with the Individual Volunteer Coordinator and their Staff Team Lead to discuss taking over as Volunteer Team Lead. |
